This Was Not The Bargain

Out of the window
like a movie,
hungry people
starving children
destitute,
caught in the traps of poverty
left without a piece of hope
waiting for their death alert

Children become orphans
parents, childless
weeping here and there
crying in the morning and night
always lying in the bed of anguish and pain
seeking freedom
seeking for joy
over a thousand miles or more
what a life!
more like a nightmare
Life! this wasn’t our bargain
